What is myopia?

Click on our nearsightedness page to learn more about myopia.

My daughter is six and has been diagnosed with a Lazy eye. It is straight so we didn't have a clue she couldn't see out of it until we took her in for an eye test July 09. We have been patching her but her vision doesn't seem to be improving much. We were wondering if doing some kind of vision therapy and working the eye would benefit her?

Clear View Eye Care does offer vision therapy. We have a system in place to help with Amblyopia and in enhancing binocular vision. Basic patching is a good start. Near work and additional vision therapy could help depending on the reason for the amblyopia. To determine the best way to help we would perform a Vision Efficiency Evaluation.

I don't have insurance. How much will my visit cost?

This is a good question and usually one of the first when seeking out a new doctor. I think this question arises not only out of the financial considerations. People need a way of distinguishing you from others and price is an easy first question. Clear View Eye Care is unique in its eye exam. We check blood pressure and blood sugar due to the adverse affects that diabetes and high blood pressure have on the eye. A full medical evaluation includes pupils anomalies, eye alignment, dry eye evaluation, retinal evaluation and glaucoma screening. It is good to remember that health insurance will often cover the cost of your exam. To obtain a quote from one of our dedicated staff call us at 435-674-3502.

Can Latisse affect my vision?

The most common side effects after using LATISSE® solution are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness, which were reported in approximately 4% of patients. These may occur immediately after use, but should usually last only for a short period of time. Eye itching and eye redness are not allergic reactions, and do not mean that your eyes are being harmed.

LATISSE® solution may cause other less common side effects, which typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes. These include eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. Skin darkening (or hyperpigmentation) is another less common side effect. This condition causes areas of skin to become darker than the surrounding skin color, but has been reported to be reversible after discontinuation of the product. Source: Latisse

Latisse is also used as a glaucoma medication and is used to save vision. Problems with vision due to Latisse have not yet been reported and is very unlikely.

What do you recommend if using a computer for an hour gives you a headache?

You could try some reading glasses (like +1.50) to take some of the strain off. Also, you could try the 20/20 rule (taking a 20 second break every 20 minutes). Hope that helps.

Can I get color contacts even if I don't have a prescription?

First off you do need a prescription to wear contacts. They are a medical device and your doctor is an important part of ensuring your eyes stay healthy. That said you can get color contacts that don't have any power in them. So, if you want to change your eye color you can do it, even if you don't need contacts to see clearly.
